Salary Details
Scale of pay for Staff Car Driver (ordinary grade) is Rs. 19900 to 63200/- (Level 2 in the Pay Matrix as per 7 CPC)+ admissible allowances.
Age Limit
- The age limit for direct recruits from candidates of India is 18 to 27 years for UR and EWS categories.
- The age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC and ST candidates.
- The age limit is relaxable by 3 years for OBC candidates.
- Government servants can apply upto the age of 40 years as per instructions or orders issued by the Central Government.
- Ex-servicemen can apply upto a maximum of 3 years after deduction of the military service rendered from the actual age. For SC and ST categories, the maximum age limit is 8 years (3+5), and for OBC, it is 6 years (3+3).
- The crucial date for determining the age limit is the closing date of application, which is March 31, 2023.
Education Qualification
- Possession of a valid driving license for light and heavy motor vehicles.
- Knowledge of motor mechanism. The candidate should be able to remove minor defects in vehicles.
- Experience of driving light and heavy motor vehicle for at least three years.
- Pass in 10th standard from a recognized Board or Institute.
- Desirable qualification: Three years’ service as Home Guard or Civil Volunteers.

India Post Driver Recruitment Exam Pattern 2023
- The examination will be conducted in two stages, namely Stage I and Stage II.
- Stage I:– is the Theory Test and will cover general knowledge, simple arithmetic, great intelligence and reasoning, motor mechanism, traffic rules, signals, and regulations. The Theory Test will carry a weightage of 80 marks.
- Stage II:- is the Practical Test and will cover knowledge of motor mechanism and driving. The Practical Test will carry a weightage of 20 marks.

Steps to Apply Offline For India Post Driver Recruitment 2023
- The application should be filled in the prescribed format by the candidate in one of the languages in Hindi/English/Tamil without any corrections and duly signed by the candidate.
- Two recent photographs should be enclosed, out of which one recent passport size photograph should be affixed at the place meant for the purpose on the application and should be duly self-attested by the candidate.
- An Indian Postal order for Rs. 100/- or UCR receipt to be taken in any post office should be enclosed towards the application fee. SC/ST/Women candidates are exempted from the fees.
- The reservation category should be selected (UR/EWS/SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)). Certificate issued by competent authority in the prescribed format should be enclosed. If the category is not selected, the candidate will be treated as UR.
- Ex-servicemen category selected, service & trade proof copy should be enclosed, otherwise, they will be considered under the general category and no age relaxation will be given.
- Photocopies of the necessary certificates self-attested by the candidate should be forwarded along with the application.
- The completed application should be sent to the Senior Manager (JAG), Mail Motor Service, No.37, Greams Road, Chennai 600 006, on or before 31-03-2023 by 1700 Hours through Speed Post/Registered Post only. Applications received by any other means will be rejected.
- Applications received after the last date and without adhering to the above conditions said in this notification will not be considered.
